Rome Woman Charged Following Stolen Vehicle Investigation
ROME, N.Y. — A Rome woman is facing a felony charge after authorities investigated a stolen vehicle complaint in the City of Rome.
According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, members of the Road Patrol Division responded to an address in Rome on May 15, 2026, after receiving a report that a vehicle had been stolen. Deputies said the vehicle was identified as the victim’s white 2009 Nissan Maxima.
The case was later turned over to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit for further investigation.
Following that investigation, deputies arrested Kimberly E. Guzman, 26, of Rome. She was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class D felony.
Under New York law, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree involves knowingly possessing stolen property with intent to benefit oneself or another person, or to prevent the rightful owner from recovering it, when the value of the property exceeds $3,000.
Guzman was processed at the Kurt B. Wyman Law Enforcement Building and then turned over to the Oneida County Correctional Facility for centralized arraignment.
The Sheriff’s Office said the investigation remains ongoing.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the City of Rome Police Department.
As with all criminal cases, the charge is an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
