Afro-American Heritage Association of Rome, NY to Host “Freedom, Faith and Fellowship” Juneteenth Celebration at Bellamy Harbor
ROME, NY — The Afro-American Heritage Association of Rome, NY will host its Freedom, Faith and Fellowship Juneteenth Celebration on Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Bellamy Harbor in Rome, New York.
The free community event will bring residents together to celebrate freedom, history, culture, faith, family, and community. This year’s celebration will also take place on Father’s Day, offering families an opportunity to enjoy a meaningful day of fellowship along the harbor.
Community members are invited to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and their favorite picnic foods for a family picnic atmosphere. The celebration will feature inspiring speakers, history and culture, food, entertainment, family fun, and community fellowship.
“This celebration is about honoring the meaning of Juneteenth while bringing families and neighbors together in a spirit of unity, faith, and community pride,” said Marilyn Hawkins, President of the Afro-American Heritage Association of Rome, NY. “We welcome everyone to join us at Bellamy Harbor for a day of reflection, celebration, and fellowship.”
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing importance of freedom, justice, education, and community connection. The Rome celebration will highlight African American heritage while creating a welcoming space for all residents to learn, celebrate, and connect.
The event is free and open to the community.
