Meet and Greet with New Utica Public Library Director, Nathan Jochum

 

UTICA, N.Y. (June 3rd, 2026) – The Utica Public Library and the
Board of Trustees will host a special Meet and Greet event with its
new Director, Nathan Jochum, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm on June 10th in
the library’s 2nd floor gallery at 303 Genesee Street.
Community members are invited to meet Jochum, learn about the
library’s current offerings, and hear his vision for the future of the
historic institution. Light hors d’oeuvres and refreshments will be
served alongside a cash bar. Guests are encouraged to pre-register
for the event online on the library’s events calendar, or by calling
the library at 315-801-5886.
Jochum assumed the Director position in January 2026 and brings
more than twenty years of library leadership to his new role.
Hailing from the Midwest, he previously served as Director of the Perry County Public Library in Tell City, Indiana. Jochum holds a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from Drexel University’s iSchool and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Indiana. “I am honored to serve as the new Director of the Utica Public Library, and look forward to meeting and serving the community both in and outside of the library walls,” said Jochum. “I’ve already been welcomed so warmly by the people and organizations of the Mohawk Valley, and look forward to becoming more acquainted at our June 10th Meet and Greet.”

About the Utica Public Library

The origins of a public library in Utica date back to 1838. In 1904, the Utica Public Library
opened in its current location at 303 Genesee Street. The Utica Public Library is a historic
landmark on the National Register of Historic Places and a community hub that provides

educational resources and free programming to community members of all ages. The 120-year- old structure has undergone a number of restorations in recent years, resulting in a revitalized physical space for the 31,000-square-foot building. The Utica Public Library is a member of the Mid York Library System.
