Albany County’s positive case rate decreases, 1 new death

There are 555 active positive cases of the coronavirus in Albany County, down from 663 Saturday, according to the latest update from Albany County Executive Dan McCoy.

The county’s five-day average is now 188.2. Vaccination rates continue to climb in the county, with 69% of residents now fully vaccinated.

As of Sunday, there are six new hospitalizations due to the virus, bringing the total to 48. There are nine patients in the ICU and, sadly, one new death to report – a man in his 90s.

“I send my condolences to the latest Albany County family who has lost a loved one to COVID-19,” said McCoy in a statement Sunday. “I continue to urge anyone who has not yet been vaccinated to get a shot and for those who are eligible for a booster, please get one. These are the best weapons to protect ourselves and our community.”

There are several school-based clinics coming up this week, with the first at Guilderland Elementary School on Monday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
