Joe Kelly’s Sesquicentennial Scrapbook celebrates Utica’s history in a series of fun and entertaining vignettes. The booklet was originally written for a weekly column in the Observer-Dispatch to commemorate the city’s 150th anniversary. A lot has changed in since the city’s sesquicentennial, but Utica’s history hasn’t. Join Joe Kelly to discuss and sign copies of the 35th Anniversary Edition of his popular book. This program takes place in the history center’s main gallery on Saturday, March 24 starting at 1:00 PM.
Joe Kelly is a writer, television personality, and radio host with more than 30 years of professional experience, including 20 years at the Utica Observer-Dispatch, first as a reporter, then as a columnist. He writes a weekly column for the Boonville Herald & Adirondack Tourist and is also the owner, publisher, and senior editor of the newspaper. He hosts “The Joe Kelly Show,” broadcast weekly on WUTR, and a variety of special programs on the network. Joe is the author of six books including the Sesquicentennial Scrapbook. He served as Oneida County Historian from 1997-1997, and has served on the board of directors of several community organizations including the Boonville-Oneida County Fair, the Oneida County Convention & Visitors Bureau, American Heart Association, and the Oneida County History Center.
The Oneida County History Center, formerly the Oneida County Historical Society, is a private 501(c) (3) not-for-profit educational institution and is dedicated to preserving history and promoting the culture of the Greater Mohawk Valley.
