Utica Comedian Takes National Stage

Seven years ago, Mike Bova said in his mind, he would NEVER be a comedian! Soon after, Mike would co-headline his first comedy show with a semi-finalist from NBC’s Last Comic Standing.
Since then, Mike has headlined shows across upstate NY, also performing in New Jersey, Texas, and Kansas. Two years ago, Marc Price, who played Skippy on NBC’s Family Ties contacted Mike to open for him on tour.
“I’m amazed at the doors God has opened up for me,” said Bova. “When I said I would NEVER be a comedian, I think God said, ‘Oh really, we’ll see about that!'”
That tour with Skippy led to Bova being a part of The Ultimate Robin Williams Tribute Experience, which starred Skippy, another comedy veteran Robin Williams impersonator, Roger Kabler. “I learned a ton about the business on that tour, which enabled me to start my own endeavor, The Big and Tall Comedy Tour.”
The Big and Tall Comedy Tour, which features Ernesto “Big Ern” Galano, started in late January 2018 and has seen rapid success. Mike Bova and Big Ern are kicking off a nationwide tour this fall, playing major venues like the Funny Bone in Syracuse, September 22, Zanies Chicago, October 1, The Memorial Auditorium in Spartanburg, SC and Mohawk Casino in Hogansburg, NY the weekend of November 15 and 16. There are fifteen more shows yet to be booked this week alone.
“When we aren’t playing major venues, we’re playing American Legions, VFWs and Veterans Outreach Centers along our routes to raise money for our nation’s veterans,” Bova added. “That has been my cause, and I started raising money for veteran’s organizations with comedy shows, a month before I took to the comedy stage.”
The Big and Tall Comedy Tour has either booked shows or is in the process of booking shows in PA, VA, SC, NC, MD, IL, OH, MI, IN, ME, RI, FL, CA, TX, MN, CO, WA, OR, to name just a few states. For a list of all tour dates, visit www.mikebova.com
