State Police describe separate cases in Amsterdam, Milton and Rotterdam in their October 9-15 report concerning Troop G DWI arrests.
Two drivers were charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle, and a third driver faces a DWI charge, according to an October 16 report from New York State Police Troop G regarding Troop G DWI arrests.
The three cases followed traffic stops in Amsterdam and Rotterdam and a two-vehicle crash in Milton. They appear in the troop’s report of notable DWI arrests, including Troop G DWI arrests, for October 9-15, 2026. The release highlights these cases; it does not give a total for all DWI arrests during that period.
Amsterdam stop leads to Leandra’s Law charge
Troopers from the Fonda station stopped a vehicle on East Main Street in Amsterdam at about 1 a.m. October 11 for a traffic violation. Police identified the driver as Beatrice L. Gray, 41, of Amsterdam.
According to State Police, a child under 16 was in the vehicle without a proper child-restraint system. The child was released to a family member.
Police said Gray refused to identify herself and resisted being taken into custody. The agency listed these charges:
- Aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, under Leandra’s Law
- Second-degree obstructing governmental administration
- Resisting arrest
- First-degree aggravated unlicensed operation
- Other vehicle and traffic law violations
Gray was taken to the Fonda station for processing. Police said she declined to provide a sample for alcohol testing. She was arraigned in Florida Town Court and released on her own recognizance, according to the release.
Milton crash leads to a second child-related DWI case
At about 9:02 p.m. October 12, troopers from the Saratoga station responded to a two-car crash near Doubleday Avenue in Milton. Police identified one driver as Courtney M. Grant, 30, of Saratoga Springs.
A child under 16 in Grant’s vehicle was uninjured and was released to a sober third party, State Police said. Grant was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child under Leandra’s Law and other traffic violations.
Police reported an alcohol-test reading of 0.16% during processing at the Saratoga station. They also said their investigation found a DWI conviction within the previous 10 years.
Grant was arraigned in Milton Town Court and sent to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility with bail set at $500 cash, $1,000 bond or a $10,000 partially secured bond, according to the October 16 release. The report does not establish her custody status after that arraignment.
