Buffalo Man Faces Charges Over 3D-Printed Firearm Parts

BUFFALO, N.Y. A 19-year-old Buffalo man faces 19 felony counts after investigators accused him of making firearm parts with a 3D printer and offering them for sale online, New York State Police said.

Socrates J. Sudi was arrested Oct. 20 following an investigation that began in September, according to a State Police release dated Oct. 22, 2026. The agency said the investigation remains active.

Search warrant executed on Richlawn Avenue

State Police said investigators identified Sudi during the inquiry and allege that he used a 3D printer to fabricate firearm parts for internet sales.

On Oct. 20, the Troop A Community Stabilization Unit, the Department of Homeland Security, Buffalo Police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives carried out a search warrant at a residence on Richlawn Avenue in Buffalo, according to the release.

Police said they secured multiple items during the search. The written announcement did not provide an itemized inventory or say how many completed firearms, if any, were recovered. It also did not identify the online platform allegedly used or describe any completed sales.

Charges and court information

State Police listed the charges against Sudi as:

  • Fourteen counts under New York Penal Law 265.10, listed in the release as manufacture, transport, disposition and defacement of weapons and dangerous instruments and appliances, each a class D felony.
  • Five attempted violations of that section, each listed as a class E felony.

The release did not identify the specific subsection underlying each count. The charge descriptions are the police account, not findings by a court.

Police said Sudi was processed and taken to Buffalo Lockup for arraignment. The announcement did not provide the arraignment outcome, bail terms, a next court date or a statement from an attorney for Sudi.

State Police also reported that a second adult at the residence was turned over to Cheektowaga Police on an active bench warrant. The release did not accuse that person of involvement in the alleged firearm-parts operation.

Sudi is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
