Last year on New Year’s Eve, downtown Utica felt like a bustling Times Square. This year in the midst of the COVID pandemic, quieter, family-centered celebrations at home will be the norm. The Utica Children’s Museum’s New Year’s Eve Memory Maker Box is a “party in a box” that was created exactly for that – a fun, memorable night-in.
The box includes sparkling grape juice, kid-friendly stemware, hats, noisemakers, treats and games. There are also crafts and activities to enjoy together as a family. The box can then turn into a time capsule as family members fill out custom sheets to capture a snapshot of 2020 and make plans for 2021.
Boxes can be purchased on the Museum’s website: uticacm.org for $100. Easy, car-side pick up will be available on various dates at the end of December at the Museum’s future site: 106 Memorial Parkway in Utica.

Earlier this year, the Museum announced that they will be moving to Memorial Parkway in Utica and creating a new, state-of-the art experience for our region’s families. The new all-inclusive space will be the only one of its kind in the country – a Family Resource Center that will not only house ICAN family-based programs, but offer space open to the community AND be home to the all new Children’s Museum. The team has been working diligently with nationally renowned museum design and architectural teams to create a space that nurtures childhood development, exploration, and creativity, all while promoting the joy of play.
