Sparkle Anthony is running for one of the 3 Utica Common Council at Large seats. She has lived in Utica for the past 7 years and is raising her 2 sons and daughter here. Sparkle is a 2017 graduate of MVCC. Where she served as the President of the Black Students Union. She is a member of Citizen’s Action of New York. She is especially interested in improving community and school relations and having diversity in staffing and more equity and inclusion in the Utica District.
Sparkle volunteers at Hope House, on the advisory board of the Uptown Theater and is on the Board of Directors of ‘For the Good, Inc’ and Rebuilding the Village, Inc.
Sparkle is an advocate for affordable, safe programs and activities for the young people in Utica. She is also interested in improving the life of seniors and seeing that people with special needs in Utica have their rights protected and their quality of life enhanced. Sparkle’s interest in Utica’s multi-ethnic, multi-racial, immigrant and refugee programs has motivated her to be a volunteer at the Midtown Utica Community Center.
