UTICA, NY (January 13, 2018) – The Mohawk Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is currently operating an emergency reception center at Vienna United Methodist Church on Route 49 in North Bay, New York (Oneida County). The reception center is available today as a gathering place for local residents from the Sylvan Beach area who have been temporarily evacuated due to flooding along Fish Creek and Oneida Lake.
Red Cross staff and volunteers are providing support including snacks, water, blankets, and meals for those who gather at the reception center throughout the day. The Red Cross is working in close coordination with local officials to address further emergency needs if they arise. Additional volunteers and resources are on standby at this time.
In light of local flooding, as well as the current winter storm warning in effect for much of the area, residents are encouraged to take steps to ensure their safety.
