The New York State Attorney General’s Office will investigate the shooting death of a suspect during a confrontation with New York State Police Wednesday night in the village of Unadilla.
New York State Police say they were dispatched to a home on Lyons Street in the village on report of a domestic dispute, where a trooper was confronted by 24-year-old Mark Beilby, who troopers said was armed with a knife.
State Police said Beilby did not comply with the trooper’s order for him to drop the weapon, and allegedly advanced toward the trooper. State Police said a trooper, who hasn’t yet been identified, fired his gun and shot Beilby.
Beilby was transported to Tri-Town Hospital, then transferred to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City where he later died, troopers said.
