Onondaga County reports 24 drug overdoses in 24-hour period

The Onondaga County Health Department reported 14 suspected overdoses between Tuesday and Wednesday.

As of now, the county isn’t saying how many resulted in deaths.

The substances used in these overdoses have yet to be established, but since the beginning of 2020, approximately 92% of the drug-related deaths in Onondaga County have been fentanyl-related.

The Onondaga County Health Department continues to warn people that taking illegal drugs is dangerous. They said those who choose to should take advantage of services that can reduce risk of dying from an overdose.

Those in need should call or text the Onondaga County Health Department at 315-418-5365.
