Meanwhile in Oneida County, county exectuive Anthony Picente laid out his budget address Tuesday and for the ninth year in a row, residents won’t see a property tax increase.
Picente continues to push economic projects like the Cree-Wolfspeed plant in Marcy, as well as the downtown hospital and Nexus Center projects in Utica.
Picente also said they plan to use their American Rescue Plan funding to offput COVID-19 expenses, as well as support some of these projects.
The budget proposal also restores funding for libraries, humane societies, Cornell Co-operative Extension and Mohawk Valley EDGE. In order to move forward, the budget has to be approved by the county legislature.
