The Syracuse Community has come together to upgrade what’s described as nature’s best kept secret.
Tuesday, Webster Duck Pond opened a brand new outlook deck The park is located off Valley Drive in Syracuse.
It’s managed by volunteers who work year round to try to provide a space for Central New Yorkers to enjoy the outdoors. The new path is meant to give everyone a place to enjoy nature and even hold small meetings.
The expansion of the trail was a long time project of Park Manager Chad Newton, who is confined to a wheel chair.
“This gives wheel chairs opportunity for a place to enjoy along with able-bodied people, as well,” said Webster Pond Park Manager Chad Lewis.
The ceremony comes only a few weeks after the park office was ransacked and vandalized. A GoFundMe allowed for security cameras to be put up around the park.
