Navajo storyteller to visit MVCC

Diné Navajo Storyteller Sunny Dooley of the Diné Navajo community of Chi-Chil-Tah, New Mexico, will present “Hané: The Diné Navajo Stories” at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, in Alumni College Center room 116 as part of the Mohawk Valley Community College Cultural Series at the Utica Campus. Admission is free.

Dooley has been telling the “Origin and Blessing Way Creation Stories” of the Diné people throughout North America, West Africa, and Europe for the past 30 years. The retelling of these stories carries the understanding of why people, places, and things are the way they are. The stories teach an understanding of the past, present, and future. Hané is considered an art form that is precious and sacred.

Tickets for all Cultural Series events can be purchased in-person at the MVCC Box Office, Information Technology Building Room 106, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. MondayFriday, and at the Utica Campus Bookstore and the Rome Campus Student Services Center; online anytime at www.mvcc.edu/tickets<https://www.mvcc.edu/tickets>; or over the phone by calling 315.731.5721.
