This fall, the Mohawk Valley Community College School of Art will host several art exhibits and hands-on workshops showcasing various art forms.
Art Workshops
All hands-on workshops will be led by School of Art faculty at MVCC’s Utica Campus. All materials will be provided, and no experience is necessary.
- Watercolor Bookmarks — 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026; Academic Building room 161. Join Instructor Andie Alban to learn foundational watercolor techniques and make a bookmark to take home. Tickets are $10 general and free for MVCC students.
- Mini Figure Painting — 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026; Academic Building room 280. Get an inside look at how MVCC Art Professor Josh Piejko sculpted MVCC’s mascot, Mo Hawk, as a “Dungeons & Dragons” style warrior and paint a 3D-printed mini figure to take home. Tickets are $15 general and free for MVCC students.
- Photograms — 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2026; Academic Building room 273. Join MVCC School of Art Dean Todd Behrendt to learn about the photogram process and create one of your own. Tickets are $10 general and free for MVCC students.
Art Exhibits
- 2026 School of Art Faculty Show — Opening with a reception at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026, this exhibit provides a look into the creative work of faculty in MVCC’s School of Art. The show will be on display in the Juergensen Gallery in Wilcox Hall through Oct. 16, 2026.
- “Gesture and Space” by Colleen O’Hara — Opening with a reception at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026, this exhibit features series of paintings by MVCC Adjunct Instructor Colleen O’Hara pairs large gestural marks with areas of intricate detail, exploring process, movement, and space. “Gesture and Space” will be on display in the Juergensen Gallery in Wilcox Hall through Dec. 11, 2026.
