Two more Albany County residents have died due to complications with COVID-19, according to the lastest report from Albany County Executive Dan McCoy Sunday.
There are currently 733 active cases of the virus in the county with 227 new positives reported since Saturday, said McCoy. The most recent seven-day average of 50.7 positive cases per 100,000 people in the area.
McCoy also reported that 71% of the county is now fully vaccinated, while 78% have received their first dose.
The county executive is urging vaccine acceptance with the approaching holidays as COVID-19 is expected to take a more serious turn in the developing winter months.
“COVID-19 has claimed the lives of 15 Albany County residents so far this month and my condolences go out to the families of the latest victims of the virus,” said McCoy. “I hope and pray every day that people who have not been vaccinated get a shot to help prevent the spread of the virus, protect themselves and others and help stop our death toll from going up.”
As of Sunday, 62 people have been hospitalized with the virus and eight are in the ICU.
