Kim Potter Found Guilty Of Manslaughter In The Fatal Shooting

The jury found ex-Minnesota cop Kimberly Potter guilty of both first-degree and second-degree manslaughter on December 23 for the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old Black man, at a traffic stop on April 11th.

More on the case:

  • Potter pleaded not guilty on both charges, saying that she mistook her firearm for a taser during the incident
  • The shooting took place during the trial of another White officer, Derek Chauvin, who was found guilty for the killing of George Floyd in the same Minnesota county in April
  • The jury selected includes nine White, one Black and two Asian jurors

Potter faces a maximum 15 years in prison for her most serious charge.
