Broome County to distribute home testing kits as cases climb

Broome County will begin distributing at-home COVID-19 testing kits starting Wednesday, according to the county’s office of emergency services.

The effort to increase testing options in the community comes as Broome County is seeing its largest COVID-19 spike to date.

Wednesday’s drive-thru event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Otsiningo Park. There will be a limit of two boxes per car on a first come, first serve basis.

Positive results can be reported and case investigation can be completed through the county’s website.

Testing continues to be available Monday through Friday at the county’s rapid test site at the Broome County Health Department and Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the state-run site at the former Davis College.

Right now, the county has over a 21% positivity rate.
