Tabling Events in June …

I am sending this as the first of three emails with information about opportunities to engage with the work of the branch, upcoming community programs and information from NAACP Nationals and the NYS Conference. This email is specifically about opportunities to represent our branch by tabling at upcoming events as well as at the Oneida County Public Market throughout the summer.

Tabling at local festivals in June

Tabling at festivals and events is one way we can be visible in the community, make connections, provide information about our branch and the mission and vision of NAACP more broadly, potentially recruit new members, and provide non-partisan voter registration and education about voting. If you’re up for a couple of hours staffing a table with a fellow branch member, talking with members of the community who stop by the table, and potentially doing some networking which enjoying time at the event, here are two possibilities:
June 6 – Oneida County Pride Festival OCPA is hosting this festival at the Clinton Arena in Clinton (36 Kirkland Ave)! The festival runs from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with a set-up time from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. More information about the festival is in the attached flyer.
June 20 – Juneteenth celebration MUNPC is hosting its annual Juneteenth celebration on June 20th at Kemble Park! The celebration runs from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., with a set up time between 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. More information can be found in the flyer that is attached.
Tabling at Oneida County Public Market – Get Out the Vote!
Our civic engagement chair, Ken Drake, is working with Diane Berry to pull together a coalition of organizations to do non-partisan voter registration at the Oneida County Public Market. We are looking for members interested in volunteering for some Saturday hours, which would encompass assisting with voter registration, answering questions, etc. for any of those stopping by the table.
The Oneida County Public Market hours are Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., beginning on May 23rd behind Union Station in Utica (321 Main Street). You don’t need to volunteer every week, or even for the full time, but our presence makes a difference and any support we can provide helps! We know this effort and our presence is welcomed and appreciated by the Market manager and BOE staff as well.
Interested in tabling? Have questions or need more information? Contact Ken Drake, our civic engagement chair, at kdrake01@twcny.rr.com.
