Wear Red for Women’s heart health on National Wear Red Day

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women® movement invites the Mohawk Valley to wear red on National Wear Red Day, Friday, Feb. 7, and unite against the No. 1 killer of women during American Heart Month

UTICA, NEW YORK, February 3, 2025 – This National Wear Red Day, the first Friday in February, people and landmarks across the U.S. – from news desks to iconic buildings – will “Go Red” once again to raise awareness and education around women’s heart health as part of the American Heart Association’s American Heart Month celebration. Townsquare media and the American Heart Association have recruited 14 Mohawk Valley buildings to glow red on Wear Red Day.

The local Circle of Red will gather on Thursday, Feb. 6, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse, 147 N. Genesee St., Utica, to kick off Wear Red Day. Delmonico’s will be among the buildings glowing red, beginning on Thursday. 

The Circle of Red is a giving society that supports the Go Red for Women movement with a significant financial contribution. Joanna Donaruma Wade, a longtime Go Red for Women supporter, and member of the board of directors of the American Heart Association, is hosting the Circle of Red, led by Lauren Mattia of Digital Infrastructure Advisors.

Alicia Brockway, business banking regional manager at NBT Bank and chair of the 2025 Go Red for Women Luncheon, will help kick off Wear Red Day at the event. Attendees will also meet the 2025 Women of Impact, a group who have committed to raising awareness about, and funds to support, Go Red For Women, in a six-week campaign.
