The first time a Democratic candidate has won a Syracuse-based Congressional seat in a Midterm election in nearly 50 years.
Congressman John W. Mannion today was overwhelmingly reelected to a second term representing NY-22 including the cities of Syracuse, Utica, Auburn and Cortland and covering all of Onondaga and Madison Counties and portions of Oneida, Cayuga, and Cortland Counties.
“Tonight, the people of Central New York and the Mohawk Valley sent a powerful message that we reject the toxic politics of division and believe in treating each other with kindness, lifting each other up, and working together to get things done. I’m deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and the trust voters have placed in me to continue serving our communities.
With a Democratic majority in Congress, we have an opportunity to show the American people that we are the party of ideas and action. That means lowering costs for working families, restoring oversight and accountability in Washington, and standing up for the constitutional checks and balances that are the foundation of our democracy.”
