Hamilton College at The Other Side
Wed., Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m. at The Other Side, 2011 Genesee St., Utica
The 2017-18 Hamilton College at The Other Side lecture series opens with a talk by S. Brent Rodriguez Plate, Visiting Associate Professor of Religious Studies.
Cinema and religious life are intertwined, a fact demonstrated in horror films and science fiction mythologies, in the rituals of midnight screenings and film-inspired pilgrimages. Professor Plate’s multi-media presentation offers insights into matters central to both cinema and religious practices. By looking at the ways films are produced and used, we can shed new light on the ways religious myths, rituals, and symbols are produced and used, and vice versa.
The lectures are free to the public. Donations are appreciated. For information contact Kim (kodomenico@verizon.net or 315 735-4825.
