Vegetable Gardening for Beginners

 

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County (CCE Oswego) will be holding a free outdoor vegetable garden workshop for beginners on Thursday, May 21st from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This educational program is sponsored by the CCE Oswego Master Gardener Volunteer Program in partnership with Schneider-Shineman Community Garden. The event will be held at the newly built Schneider-Shineman Community Garden located at Faith United Church, 12 Mark Fitzgibbons Dr., Oswego, NY 13126.
Presenters will be Linda Shurr and Pat Main, Master Gardeners for CCE Oswego County. Attendees will be able to tour the community garden and learn how it all got started. Topics will include soil preparation, weed management, tools needed, seeding and transplanting, raised beds and container gardening, and pest control. There will be plenty of time for questions and printouts will be made available.
