Rome Woman Arrested After River Street Domestic Stabbing

Rome Police charge 30-year-old woman with second-degree assault following an afternoon incident on River Street.

 

On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at approximately 12:25 p.m., the Rome Police Department Patrol Division responded to 148 River Street for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from a non-life-threatening laceration to the elbow. During the
investigation, officers determined the injury occurred during a domestic dispute between the victim and his girlfriend, Zeneida Lydford (DOB: October 1, 1995), 30. As a result of the investigation, Lydford was arrested and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and
Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Lydford was processed at the Rome Police Department
and held pending arraignment.
