Utica Zoo recently welcomed 4 stunning peacocks to
their Asian Realm and urge the community to help them
name these peacocks by August 1st!
TO VOTE the names of Utica Zoo’s new peacocks, they
direct interest parties to their Instagram & Facebook
pages, where you can comment on the post with the
group number you favor the most. The options you can
choose from are:
1) Private – Skipper – Rico – Kowalski
2) Peralta – Gomez – Holt – Jeffers
3) Michael – Dwight – Jim – Andy
4) Frozone – Mr. Incredible – Gazerbeam – Dash
Utica Zoo says comments on Instagram Facebook will
be tallied by August 1 st and will share the names chosen for
these peacocks by next month.
These 4 peacocks awaiting their names have taken
residence in the zoo’s former North American bald eagle
exhibit. Spirit, who is 23 years old and has been with the Utica
Zoo since 2018, has been enjoying a new home in the zoo’s
Backyards & Barnyards.
The zoo shares that Spirit’s current exhibit was designed
for him based on his flightless ability. Spirit was injured in the
wild, rescued, and rehabilitated. After a failed release back into
the wild due to his inability to hunt for himself, Spirit serves as
an important ambassador animal for his species!
Spirit’s previous companion you may have seen at Utica Zoo in their previous exhibit is
now enjoying a new home in Indiana. This species is known to be solitary in the wild.
What they’ve always called the Eagle View Pavilion will soon be rebranded as the Lion
View Pavilion.
Utica Zoo looks forward to sharing the names of their newest animal collection next
month!
