YMCA Welcomes Grigorita and Hickey to Leadership Team

Focus on Community Engagement and Program Expansion

The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley welcomes two new hires to the Leadership Team with a strong focus on engaging the Rome, Oneida, and surrounding communities in a healthier lifestyle.  Additionally, strengthening and expanding programs and service offerings that meet the current needs of our members is a primary focus.

Alex Grigorita

Alex Grigorita will lead the Oneida Family YMCA as the Branch Executive, bringing a wealth of experience in team building, maximizing communication and efficiency, and sports management.  Alex earned his Bachelor’s degree in business- general management from Bryant & Stratton, a Bachelor’s in Recreational Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism in Moldova, and an associate’s degree in Hospitality Management from BSC.  He worked as an Associate Athletic Director at Bryant & Stratton and the Head Women’s Soccer Coach, where he led the team to a National Championship in 2021.  Alex also serves as a volunteer fireman and carpool Dad for his daughter’s many sports adventures.  He is passionate about empowering teams to achieve success.

Ryan-Hickey

Ryan Hickey has joined the YMCA’s Regional Leadership Team as Regional Sports Director for the YMCA of Greater Tri-Valley, merging this focus for both the Rome and Oneida regions. He has over 20 years of experience developing, implementing, and overseeing sports/recreation programs and activities for youth, families, and adults. Ryan received his Bachelor of Science Degree from SUNY Cortland and has over 20 years of experience in Coaching and is a NY State champion as both a player and Coach. He has a love for sports and youth & family programming that we are excited to bring to our YMCA members.

“The addition of Alex and Ryan is a significant boost, as Alex brings extensive coaching experience and operational leadership, aligning seamlessly with our mission and strategic plan, recently completed in 2024. Ryan, a former leader in our organization with two decades of program management experience in the Rome community, will leverage his expertise and connections to foster innovative programs for both branches, positioning us for future success,” says Hank Leo, YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley CEO.
