UTICA, NY – The Utica Zoo recently unveiled their winter 2021 virtual education program schedule, as well as a new Facebook users group designed to be a resource for parents and teachers. With growing numbers of COVID-19 cases locally, the Zoo developed these resources as a way to make virtual learning fun and engaging for young students.
The Virtual Hatchlings program is designed for learners aged 2-5 and features a series of 30 minute online programs that will focus on one animal per week for a 6 week period. Additionally, each session will feature songs, movement, activities, and crafts. Programs are designed to require parental support to be successful and fully engaging. Sessions are held once a week on Thursday mornings at 10am on Zoom; the schedule is as follows:
Week 1: Dazzling Dragons – January 14th
Week 2: Silly Squirrels – January 21st
Week 3: Zig-Zagging Zebras – January 28th
Week 4: Hooray for Hedgehogs – February 4th
Week 5: All about Owls – February 11th
Week 6: Awesome Opossums! – February 18th
