Las Vegas, Nevada – The Brown Byrd Foundation proudly announces that its Founder and President, Kevin Byrd, has been honored by the City of Las Vegas with an official Mayor’s Proclamation recognizing February 2, 2027, as the 19th International Annual Prostate Cancer Awareness Day.
Signed by Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley, the proclamation recognizes the Brown Byrd Foundation’s unwavering commitment to raising awareness about prostate cancer, promoting early detection, supporting patients and families, and encouraging preventive healthcare through education, advocacy, and community engagement.
“This proclamation represents far more than a personal honor,” said Kevin Byrd. “It is a tribute to every survivor, caregiver, healthcare professional, volunteer, and supporter who has joined us in the fight against prostate cancer. Together, we are saving lives by encouraging men to get screened and by bringing hope to families across America.”
The Las Vegas recognition marks another milestone in Kevin Byrd’s decades-long commitment to public health advocacy through the arts and community outreach.
Adding to this remarkable year, Byrd also received recognition associated with a 2026 Emmy Awards nomination connected to an ABC micro-documentary highlighting his advocacy work and the historic transformation of the New York Amsterdam News headquarters. His efforts have been featured by the New York Amsterdam News in both 2011 and 2025, bringing national attention to his mission of increasing prostate cancer awareness.
The Brown Byrd Foundation’s message has also reached an international audience through coverage in the World Journal, one of the world’s largest Chinese-language newspapers. The organization’s prostate cancer awareness campaign has informed thousands of Chinese readers, expanding the Foundation’s educational outreach beyond the United States.
In recognition of his leadership and impact, Kevin Byrd has been invited to speak at the prestigious 2026 World Journal Mid-Autumn Pop-Up Market in New York City this fall. The event celebrates cultural diversity while bringing together influential leaders from business, healthcare, and community organizations.
