According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, On August 9, 2026, the Oneida County 911 center received a total of 81 calls to 911 from a single person over the course of about 4 hours. At least 76 of those calls were non-essential and a number of them were threatening in nature, with the threats directed toward 911 dispatchers and law enforcement. That same afternoon the suspect Lawrence Deptola 63 of Utica was located at his residence, and taken into custody without incident. Lawrence was subsequently charged with Aggravated harassment, a class A Misdemeanor, and held at the Oneida County Jail pending arraignment.
