According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Derrick O’Meara, who is the Director of the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center, a Utica man has been arrested for having sexual contact with an underage female child.
The investigation began in May of 2026. The case was assigned to Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Alicia Marconi, who is assigned to the Oneida County Child Advocacy Center.
Investigator Marconi’s Investigation found that Michael Weyant, age 28, had sexual contact with a child less than 17 years old. Weyant was unable to be located, so arrest warrants were requested and issued by Utica City Court and the Town of Kirkland Court.
On September 11, 2026, Weyant was located by members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Warrants Division, and subsequently arrested. Weyant was arraigned on the charges of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor, at the Oneida County CAP Court for the incident which occurred in the City of Utica. Weyant was held in lieu of $10,000.00 cash or $20,000.00 bond.
On September 16, 2026, Weyant was again located by members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Warrants Division, and subsequently arrested. Weyant was arraigned on the charges of Sexual Abuse in the 3rd Degree, a Class B Misdemeanor, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor, which occurred in the Village of Clinton. Weyant is currently being held at the Oneida County Correctional Facility awaiting arraignment in CAP Court.
Services have been offered to the victim by the Child Advocacy Center and an order of protection was issued on behalf of the child.
