Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) recently collaborated with Upstate Cerebral Palsy to tailor the college’s community-wide Supervisor’s Institute training specifically for Upstate Cerebral Palsy employees. The Supervisor’s Institute provides businesses with the opportunity to provide hands-on training to supervisors in a variety of essential topics as a key program in the Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) in partnership with
Leadership Mohawk Valley (LMV).
The CLE, which recently launched with support from the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties, is already proving to be a valuable resource for groups within the community. During this recent collaboration between MVCC, LMV and Upstate Cerebral Palsy, MVCC specifically adapted its Supervisor’s Institute for nineteen Upstate Cerebral Palsy Residential Managers, who were enrolled in this four-month leadership series where they have gained supervisory, effective communication, and team-building skills to take back to their programs. The Institute recently culminated with a presentation of final projects.
According to Geno DeCondo, Upstate Cerebral Palsy Executive Director, “MVCC took its passion for learning and training one step further a number of months ago, offering to take its community-wide Supervisor’s Institute training and develop an Institute specifically for Upstate Cerebral Palsy employees. Our training department was able to work directly with staff at MVCC to really develop a program designed specifically for our employees,
which is a true testament to what it means to foster a love of learning and staff enrichment. I wanted to extend a thank you to MVCC for working with us to develop this one of a kind program and we look forward to moving forward in our collaborative efforts to help train even more staff in the future.”
MVCC President, Randall VanWagoner said, “We’re excited to work with forward-thinking partners like Upstate Cerebral Palsy that recognize that their organizational culture and overall success lives and dies on the extent to which they have supervisors creating an emotionally-intelligent, empowering, and engaging workplace for their
employees in every department every day.”
