In a pre-dawn incident on Wednesday morning, two individuals found themselves in a harrowing situation after their pickup truck collided with a utility pole along Rome-Taberg Road. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office reported that both occupants were subsequently hospitalized.
Here are the details:
- Brian Ciulla, a 28-year-old resident of Camden, was driving westbound around 3:49 a.m. when his 2022 Ford pickup veered off the road and slammed into the utility pole. The impact caused the truck to overturn.
- Samantha Sadler, a 19-year-old from West Winfield, was a passenger in the vehicle.
- Rome firefighters swiftly responded to the scene, using hydraulic tools to extricate both Ciulla and Sadler from the wreckage.
- Fortunately, their injuries were non-life threatening. Both were transported to Wynn Hospital in Utica for medical evaluation.
- In addition to the physical consequences, Ciulla received a traffic citation for the crash. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of safe driving practices and the critical role emergency responders play in such situations. We wish both Ciulla and Sadler a speedy recovery.
