LEONARDSVILLE, N.Y. — The Horned Dorset Inn is pleased to announce a concert dinner on Sunday, Aug. 23, featuring Three Beautiful Broads Sing Broadway, a celebration of Broadway and pop tunes, directed by Peter Loftus and performed by three vocalists who have built strong local, national, and international performance backgrounds individually while also singing with various groups.
The event begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 2 p.m., followed by the concert at 3 p.m. and dinner at 4 p.m.. The cost is $89 per person, including dinner and the musical program. Beverages, tax and gratuity are not included. Reservations should be made by calling the inn at 315-855-7898. Proceeds benefit the scholarship fund of the Horned Dorset Artist Colony.
Passed hors d’oeuvres during the cocktail hour include smoked salmon, cream cheese crostini, pastrami on rye with mustard, and falafel with tahini sauce. Dinner includes chilled gazpacho with shrimp, butter head salad with buttermilk dressing, blue cheese and bacon; New York strip au poivre with braised short ribs; and classic cheesecake with triple berry compote for dessert. Dietary and allergy alternatives will be available.
The Broadway Broads will perform popular songs from Broadway’s early years through the present, with song introductions narrated by Loftus, a beloved music theater director in the Mohawk Valley area and beyond. From humorous comedy numbers to inspiring spirituals, there’s sure to be something to please every listener.
The group includes:
• Bonnie Hibbard, singer and accompanist, whose resumé includes performances in Mame (as Mame), The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas! (Miss Mona), Hello, Dolly! (Dolly), Minnie’s Boys (Minnie), Annie (Miss Hannigan), and The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Princess Puffer).
• Astana A.E. Williams, who has performed in Sister Act (Delores), All Shook Up (Sylvia), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Muzzy), The Little Mermaid (Ursula), and Beauty and the Beast (Wardrobe).
• Jennifer Reynolds Wratten, who has performed in Chicago (Velma Kelly), Nunsense (sister Mary Amnesia), Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), Crazy for You (Polly), West Side Story (Anita) and Hello, Dolly! (Mrs. Malloy).
Peter Loftus has directed and appeared in shows for more than 45 years. He directed the area’s Christmas stage favorite, Scrooge, for over 35 years, while some of his favorite performance roles included Alban in La Cage aux Follies, Edna in Hairspray, Max in The Producers, and Gomez in The Addams Family.
He also narrated and directed A Musical Canvas, created by visual artist Mary Murphy and pianist Tina Toglia. Before live audiences, Murphy painted a scene on canvas using watercolors while Toglia provided specially timed musical accompaniment. Performances were held in several different venues, including the Horned Dorset Inn.
