Statement from Governance Committee of the Kelberman Center

November 1, 2019

While the Kelberman Center’s board and executive staff continue to investigate the matter
regarding the October 22 letter, we, again, forcefully reiterate that the unauthorized letter was not sent by the Kelberman Center.

Additionally, neither Dr. Robert Myers nor Dr. Michael Kelberman approved the distribution of this letter, nor did they grant permission to use their signatures on letter.
We feel strongly that this letter was inappropriate and has caused undue harm to the
reputation of the Kelberman Center. Because of this, we announce the following actions:

1. We have contacted the New York State Office of the Attorney General regarding the
involvement of Upstate Cerebral Palsy in the unauthorized distribution of this letter.
Out of respect to this communication, we will refrain from further comment on this
matter at this time.

The Kelberman Center is one of several distinct 501(c)3 non-profits for whom Upstate
Caring Partners is a passive parent organization. Upstate Caring Partners is also the
passive parent for Upstate Cerebral Palsy.

2. The Board of Directors of the Kelberman Center passed a resolution to form a
Governance Committee. The Governance Committee will lead the Kelberman Center’s
review of issues related to the letter, including working with the authorities and other
related matters. Further, the Governance Committee will examine ways to better
structure our organization in the best interests of the people we serve.
