State Police arrest two for possessing pounds of cocaine
On March 11, 2025, State Police of the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit arrested Daval Byrams, 22, of Troy, NY, and Angel M. Madera, 30, of Rensselaer, each for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree.
On March 11, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., Troopers located Byrams and Madera walking in the area of State Street in Schenectady, NY. Due to an active and ongoing drug investigation, both individuals were interviewed, and further investigation discovered they possessed approximately 8 pounds of a controlled substance that field tested positive for cocaine, which was seized.
Both were arrested and transported to SP Latham for processing. They were then transported to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.

State Police arrest two following Wilton traffic stop
On March 10, 2025, State Police assigned to the Troop G Community Stabilization Unit, with the assistance of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, arrested Jaheim T. Gadsen Marble, 37, of Schenectady, NY, for two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence and Conspiracy in the fourth degree.
Abel O. Garcia Romano, 28, of Albany, NY, was also arrested for Conspiracy in the fourth degree and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
On March 10, 2025, at about 3:25 p.m., Troopers stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Wilton, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. Garcia Romano was identified as the driver, and Gadsen Marble as the passenger. With the assistance of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office K9, the investigation discovered felony-weight narcotics secreted on Gadsen Marble which he concealed. Garcia Romano allegedly had knowledge that Gadsen Marble was in possession of the drugs.
Both were transported to SP Wilton for processing. Garcia Romano was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Wilton Town Court on April 8, 2025, and released. Gadsen Marble was arraigned at the Moreau Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.
Manhunt in the town of Westport leads to arrest

On March 15, 2025, State Police members arrested Collen J. Gardner, age 48, of Sheldon, VT, on multiple charges, including two counts of menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (previous conviction), and two counts of attempted assault in the second degree with intent to cause physical injury.
On March 13, 2025, at approximately 1:40 p.m., Troopers responded to a complaint about an abandoned vehicle on Fish and Game Way in the town of Westport. Upon arrival, they located a blue 2012 Nissan Versa approximately 40 yards off the north shoulder of the road, with damage to the front door handles and windshield. The vehicle appeared to be stuck on a snowmobile trail leading to Mountain Spring Road. A search of the VIN revealed that the vehicle belonged to Gardner, who was considered missing and wanted by the Vermont State Police.
On March 13, 2025, a multi-agency search for Collen J. Gardner was initiated. Various agencies searched the wooded areas and nearby camps surrounding his abandoned vehicle. On March 14, 2025, New York State Forest Rangers spotted Gardner and directed him to stop. In response, Gardner fired a shot in the vicinity of the forest rangers and fled from law enforcement. A safety perimeter was established in the surrounding areas as law enforcement continued their search.
On March 15, 2025, Gardner was located by members of the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, and a State Police member, as he walked on the ice of Lake Champlain toward Crown Point. When confronted, he was in possession of what appeared to be a black rifle. Following commands from law enforcement, Gardner dropped the weapon and continued walking on unsafe ice conditions. Due to the hazardous ice conditions, law enforcement agencies chose not to intervene at that moment but set up a perimeter around the area. At approximately 1:15 p.m., he was arrested near Crown Point State Park without incident by State Police, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, and Forest Rangers.
Gardner was given medical attention and transported to SP Lewis for further questioning and processing. He was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Westport Court and remanded to Essex County Jail without bail.
The State Police received assistance from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department, New York State Forest Rangers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Tri-County SORT, Westport Fire, and the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
During the manhunt, the State Police utilized multiple units, including NYSP SORT, UTVs, ATVs, snowmobiles, and K9s.
Vermont State Police were informed that Gardner was arrested and is being held at Essex County Jail.
Three arrested in underage drinking detail
On Sunday March 16, 2025, the New York State Police in Lockport conducted an underage drinking detail in Niagara and Erie County. The following arrests were made:
Georgia A. Thompson, age 25, of Youngstown, NY was arrested for selling alcohol to a minor. Thompson is a bartender at Slick Willie’s in the Town of Tonawanda. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Tonawanda Court on 04/03/25.
Lauren N. Dangelo, age 22, of Buffalo, NY was arrested for selling alcohol to a minor. Dangelo is a bartender at Tully’s in the Town of Amherst. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Amherst Court on 04/15/25.
Kevin M. Ryan, age 52, of Lockport, NY was arrested for selling alcohol to a minor. Ryan is a bartender at Back Alley Bar and Grill in the Town of Pendleton. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the town of Pendleton Court on 04/16/25.
NYSP and multiple fire companies at house fire in Tompkins County
On March 18, 2025, around 4:00 a.m., New York State Police and multiple fire companies were dispatched to 318 Asbury Road for a residential fire.
One person was located deceased inside by firefighters.
Fire Departments on scene are Lansing Fire Department Inc., Groton Fire Department, Freeville Fire Department, McLean Fire and Rescue, Varna Volunteer Fire Co., Cayuga Heights Fire Department and Tompkins Airport Fire Rescue. State Fire is also on scene.
The investigation is on-going. More will be released once available.
Troop L Seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing person
The New York State Police in Troop L are seeking the public’s assistance in locating missing person Terrance D. Brown, age 44. Brown’s vehicle was last seen parked on the Robert Moses Causeway Main Span Bridge on the right shoulder. Please reference Missing Person flyer below

New York State Police arrest suspect in Canisteo assault incident
On March 14, 2025, the New York State Police responded to a report of an assault in the village of Canisteo, Steuben County.
At approximately 10:38 a.m., troopers were dispatched by Steuben County 911 to investigate an incident in which a male victim reported being assaulted by his in-home caregiver earlier in the day.
Troopers made contact with the victim at a residence on East Main Street, where he reported that his caregiver, later identified as Michael Morris, age 52, of Canisteo, NY, struck him in the face with a dog dish following a verbal altercation. The victim sustained minor injuries, including a laceration on his nose, facial swelling, and a black eye. Following the assault, Morris allegedly forced the victim to drive him to a local Dollar General, where he took the victim’s car keys to prevent him from leaving. Fearing further harm, the victim left on foot and sought help from a residence, where he called 911.
Troopers attempted to locate Morris at the Dollar General but found he had already left the area.
After further investigation, troopers contacted Morris via phone, and he agreed to meet at the Dollar General but did not arrive. Authorities later located him at his residence on Fall Creek Road. Morris was taken into custody without incident and transported to SP North Hornell for processing.
Morris was charged with Assault 2nd: Injure Victim 65 Or Older- Def At Least 10 Yrs Younger (D Felony), Criminal Possession Weapon-4th: Intent To Use (A Misdemeanor), and Unauthorized Use Vehicle: Without Owner Consent (A Misdemeanor). Morris was subsequently transported to Steuben County Jail for CAP arraignment.
Penfield Man Arrested for Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material and Harassment of Investigator
On January 27, 2023, the New York State Police in Rochester received 18 CyberTipline Reports from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children reporting the possession of child abuse material.
Subsequent to an investigation and search warrant execution, it was determined that Ryon M. Shorter, age 22, of Penfield, NY, possessed files of child sexual abuse materials. On February 27th, 2025, Shorter contacted the State Police and made homicidal threats via phone and text message to an Investigator.
On February 27th, 2025, Shorter was located and arrested for Possessing Sexual Performance By a Child less than 16:Possess/Access To View (E Felony) and Aggravated Harassment 2nd (A Misdemeanor). He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Penfield Town Court on March 19, 2025.
New York State Police Apprehend Four Suspects Following Burglary and Pursuit

The New York State Police have arrested four suspects following a commercial burglary and vehicle pursuit that began in Dutchess County and ended in Westchester County.
At approximately 1:45 a.m. on March 18, 2025, Dutchess County 911 reported a commercial burglary in progress in the Town of Pleasant Valley. Responding units identified a stolen black Porsche, matching the suspect vehicle description.
New York State Troopers located the vehicle in the Town of East Fishkill on the Taconic State Parkway and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled southbound at a high rate of speed. Due to safety concerns and the loss of visual contact, the pursuit was terminated.
At 2:16 a.m., Troopers from SP Hawthorne spotted the suspect vehicle and successfully deployed a stinger device to disable it. Despite this, the vehicle continued traveling south before being located at the Exit 6 off-ramp. The suspects then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a wooded area.
State Police and a local K9 and Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) units conducted a coordinated search. As a result of their efforts, all four suspects were located and taken into custody without further incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
