Spots still available in MVCC’s Brewing Series for industry professionals, home brewers

There are still spots available in Mohawk Valley Community College’s seven-week Brewing Series – workshops aimed at new industry professionals, people looking to become professionals, and advanced home brewers. The series begins on March 19 and runs 6 to 9 p.m. every Thursday until April 30. Courses will be taught by industry professionals: Rich Michaels of Frog Alley Brewing, and Joe Kinney and Scott Grenier of F.X. Matt Brewing. Individual courses are $59, or registrants can sign up for all seven courses for $349.

Courses will have lectures mixed with hands-on learning and opportunities to work with ingredients and apparatus, and will cover topics including barley, hops, water chemistry, yeast, quality, off flavors and characteristics, and a general overview of the brewing process. Participants also will learn how these principles can apply to wine, cider, and distilled spirits.
