The Southern Tier Cadet Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol based out of the Greater Binghamton Airport was honored with a prestigious award.
The squadron got the Quality Cadet Unit Award. The award is given to any unit that shows strong fundamentals while also motivating cadets to pursue ambitious goals.
Some of the criteria includes 45% of cadets attaining the Wright Brothers Award, 70% of cadets having their first flight credit, and 40% having graduated encampment.
Unit Commander Lieutenant Colonel Doug Jensen says he is proud of the work staff put in this past year. If you’re interested in becoming a cadet, membership is open to anyone 12 and older.
