Four recent recall notices give Utica and Mohawk Valley households a reason to check a supplement bottle, space heater, coffee maker and children’s swing. This edition of Phoenix News to Know brings together notices announced or updated October 29–30, with the product details and next steps that matter.
Match the identifiers below before acting. The remedies differ: some products must be discarded, while others need a replacement part or a change in how they are used.
1. Check one lot of 365 ashwagandha capsules
Vitality Works updated its recall announcement October 30 to clarify that the affected 365 Whole Foods Market ashwagandha capsules were sold nationwide, not just in selected states. The concern is possible Salmonella contamination.
Check the bottle: The recall covers 120-count bottles of Standardized + Full Spectrum Blend Ashwagandha, lot 2025-26227, expiration 10/13/2028, UPC listed in the notice 9948252099. The lot and expiration appear on the bottom.
Sales ran from November 24, 2025, through October 20, 2026, at Whole Foods Market stores and on Amazon. The company reported no illnesses in the announcement.
What to do: Do not take the capsules. Discard them, and do not bring the recalled product back to a store. Refunds are available at any Whole Foods Market store. Questions: Vitality Works, 505-268-9950, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mountain time.

2. DREO recalls certain space heaters for fire risk
DREO’s October 29 recall covers about 338,800 U.S. space heaters that can overheat and catch fire, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Check the label: Only model DR-HSH015 manufactured from April 2025 through January 2026 is included. The model and manufacture date, shown as year/month, are on the underside.
The heaters were sold at Costco nationwide and through several major retailers’ websites from September 2025 through October 2026. DREO reported 17 ignition incidents, including three with property damage and one hand burn.
What to do: Stop using the heater and contact DREO for a free replacement. Follow the recall instructions, which require unplugging the heater before cutting its cord and submitting a photo of the disabled unit. Call 833-820-0887, weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern time.

3. Bodum French presses: avoid metal spoons and damaged glass
An October 29 recall involves 5.9 million Bodum French press coffee makers with replaceable glass carafes. Damaged glass can break during use and cause serious burns. Bodum identified 70 breakage reports, including 48 reports of burns, according to CPSC.
Check the model: The recall covers 8-cup and 12-cup versions of Bistro, Brazil, Caffettiera, Chambord, Crema, Java, Jesper and Kenya. They were sold nationwide and online from 1974 through October 2026. The official notice links to photographs and further identification details.
What to do: Stop stirring coffee in the glass carafe with metal spoons or utensils. Do not use a cracked or damaged carafe. Contact Bodum for a plastic stirring spoon and warning label at 888-879-8213, weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time.
Read the CPSC notice and find the Bodum recall website.
4. Harkla sensory swings need a replacement ceiling hook
Harkla recalled about 25,541 children’s sensory swings in the United States on October 29 because the ceiling hook can separate from its mounting plate. The company reported 29 separations and 14 injuries, including two concussions and a broken arm, according to CPSC.
Check the hardware: Only blue compression swings supplied with a four-hole hook are included. Packaging carries SKU LS-COMP-1BLU or LS-COMP-1BLU-SW. Sales ran from March 2020 through December 2025 through listed retailers, Amazon and Harkla’s website.
What to do: Stop using the swing until repaired. Harkla offers a free kit, including shipping, with a new ceiling-hook mounting plate, safety strap and instructions. Register through the link in the official notice. Questions: 844-442-7552, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time.
