Today’s practical briefing covers voting, food-order deadlines, free hygiene supplies and a chance to weigh in on older-adult services.
1. Election Day: New York polls close at 9 p.m.
Tuesday, November 3 is the general election. The New York State Board of Elections lists voting hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Early voting ended November 1.
Before leaving, use the state’s poll-site and voter lookup to check your Election Day location. This is a voting-service reminder, not an election-results report. The state information was checked November 3; the page does not display a publication date.
2. Ilion Food $en$e cash orders close Friday
A Herkimer County notice dated November 2 lists a $20.50 November food package. Cash orders are accepted November 2–6 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 90 Morgan Street, Ilion.
Online orders close Monday, November 9. Card and SNAP/EBT orders are online only, according to the county. Follow the ordering link in its notice and select the correct pickup site. All Ilion orders are picked up at the church November 20 from 10 to 11 a.m. Questions: Catholic Charities, 315-894-9917.

3. Excellus support helps Utica Royalties stock hygiene supplies
Excellus BCBS announced November 2 that a Health and Wellness Award supports Utica Royalties’ Hygiene Pantry. Free supplies for Oneida County families facing financial hardship include soap, oral-care items, shampoo, deodorant and menstrual products.
Ask Utica Royalties at 315-224-5277 about distribution arrangements before visiting. The announcement does not provide a pantry walk-in schedule.
4. Older-adult services hearing is Friday in Old Forge
Herkimer County’s Office for the Aging plans a public hearing November 6 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Old Forge Library, 220 Crosby Boulevard. The county event notice invites input on services and says cost-saving programs will be discussed afterward.
The advertised October 30 RSVP deadline has passed. Call 315-867-1371 to ask about attendance and lunch availability rather than assuming a seat is reserved. The notice displays the November 6 event date; its publication date is not identified.
