An off-duty Onondaga County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with a DWI — and it’s not his first time getting into legal trouble.
According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, officers got a call around 11:30 p.m. Saturday from a driver on Interstate 481 who said they saw a pickup truck driving erratically.
Deputies in the area found the truck and pulled it over near the Route 298 exit.
They said the driver was Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Drumm, who has been on the force since 2008.
He was charged with DWI, refusal to take a breath test and unsafe lane change.
He was held overnight at the corrections department, but has since been released.
The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office internal affairs unit and the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office.
This is not the first time Drumm has been charged with a crime. He was accused of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run in Tully back in 2017.
