Johnson Park Center Celebrates their 30 Year Anniversary
Utica, NY, November 11, 2025 — Johnson Park Center (JPC) is thrilled to announce their 30 Year Anniversary Celebration Event and official ribbon cutting of the newly built Johnson Park Green Community Center, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to serving the community’s needs, located at 1415 West Street in Utica, NY from 4-7 pm.
For 30 years, Rev. Dr. Maria A. Scates, D.D alongside Reverend Ursula Meier, have committed their lives to cleaning up and serving the Cornhill area, in addition to supporting the lives and needs of numerous members in the Mohawk Valley. After 30 years of their leadership, strength, dedication and vision, they have transformed what once was an area of crime, drugs, and gang activity into all that you see today: a women’s shelter, 10 buildings of affordable, supportive housing, a weekly food pantry and youth center and the JPG Community Center.
Reverend Scates and Reverend Meier would like to extend the invitation to all community members to join them in celebrating this huge accomplishment. They look forward to continuing to be of service to those in need and working together to help bring lasting positive change to our neighborhood.
