No Kings and Other Things Kirkland Democratic Committee meetings

The big No Kings rallies on June 14 will be held in several locations: from 12 to 1:30 in Rome (around Fort Stanwix), register at https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/787411/; and in Utica (Genesee Street x Memorial Parkway), https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/790932/; and also from 2:00 to 3:30 in the town of Hamilton (village green), https://www.mobilize.us/nokings/event/787820/.  See https://www.nokings.org/ for more information.  “No Kings is a nationwide day of defiance. From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.”  Please come to one of these rallies, and bring friends!  Evidence shows that just 3.5% of the population engaging in sustained nonviolent resistance can and does topple dictatorships.

On the morning of Saturday, June 14th, at 10am-12pm (before the rallies), the first Kirkland-Clinton Repair Café will be taking place at St James’ Episcopal Church parish hall, 9 Williams Street, Clinton. Work with volunteer repair experts to fix broken appliances, mend worn clothing, and bring other non-working items back to life!  Sponsored by the Kirkland-Clinton Climate Smart Community Task Force, St James Episcopal Church, and the Village of Clinton.

Because of the rallies on June 14, we’re moving our local Clinton Village Green rally from the usual second Friday to the following week — so come to the Green on Friday, June 20, with your signs!  And in July we are also moving the rally to the third Friday, July 18, so as not to conflict with the Kirkland Town Library’s book sale on the Green (July 11-13).  Bring your signs protesting Trump’s illegal corruption and looting of government, his unconstitutional ignoring of due process, his destruction of NATO and ally relationships, his tariffs, and the Republican efforts to slash Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, and the VA.  No Kings signs are welcome too!

You may also want to attend weekly rallies in Utica!  They are held every Thursday, 4-5 pm, at the Pirnie Federal Building & Courthouse, 10 Broad Street, Utica; public parking is available across the street (Broad & Railroad).

On Tuesday, June 17, 5-8, the Oneida County Democratic committee is holding a fundraiser at Hart’s Hill Inn; speakers include NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, our NY 22 representative John Mannion, and NY 10 representative Dan Goldman.  Register at  https://secure.actblue.com/donate/oneidadems2025.

We will be holding the Democratic Caucus to nominate Democratic candidates for Town of Kirkland offices on Wed, June 25, at 7pm at the VFW on Franklin Ave.  Registered Democrats who are residents of Kirkland are eligible to come and vote.

The next Kirkland Democratic Committee meeting, which all Kirkland Democrats are welcome to attend, will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at 6:30pm at the Kirkland Town Library and on Zoom.  The agenda is attached, and here’s the zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/87535715625?pwd=bFJBdlFEYmtsemVaNjJESy9qMlB4UT09.
