ROME, NY: On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, concerned citizens will gather for a Town Hall to provide a forum for community members to express their views over mass government firings that impact local jobs, our CHIP industry, our weather and forest services, our airplane safety, our tax refunds, our civil rights, services for veterans, our children’s education, and threats to social security, among other issues. Congresswoman Elise Stefanik was formally invited but has yet to respond. Rep. Stefanik recently voted “yes” on the budget proposal that will cut 880 billion dollars from Medicaid, SNAP, and other services vital to the needs of her constituents. The Town Hall will be held with or without the Representative, as constituents need opportunities to share their personal stories about the effects budget cuts would have on them and their families. The non–partisan Congressional Budget Office recently said that Republicans in Congress can’t meet their budget target without cutting Medicaid.
Americans must have a voice when resources, services and protections are being removed
from our communities while unelected billionaires use their offices to protect, empower, and enrich themselves.
We invite the local community to join with us and join together in voicing opposition to these budget cuts that will harm constituents, their families, and the economic health of our community.
Sponsors: Indivisible Mohawk Valley and concerned citizens of Rome
