Native Utican, Kevin Byrd – Recognized for his Advocacy, Acting & Community Impact

Kevin Byrd is a highly awarded African American male recognized globally for his advocacy, acting, and community impact, particularly in prostate cancer awareness.

Kevin Byrd is the President and Founder of the Brown Byrd Foundation, and is widely recognized as the most Awarded Prostate Cancer Awareness Advocate worldwide, and one of the greatest African American males of all time.
 
His advocacy has led to early detection initiatives, including the International Prostate Cancer Awareness Observance Day, which has grown to over 100 participating cities and states, with landmarks like 14 time consecutive Niagara Falls Illuminations on behalf of the Niagara Falls Illumination Board of Directors, and One Times Square illuminated in recognition of his work.
 

Byrd has been honored by over 100 mayors and government officials and has received more than 100 proclamation awards, reflecting his national and international influence.

 
Byrd is also an accomplished actor, portraying Lt. John R. Fox in the 20th Anniversary of Honor Deferred this month of February 2026, which received the NAMIC Vision Award nomination. His portrayal of historical figures has been recognized in museums and exhibits, including the Oneida County Historical Center, where his memorabilia is permanently archived.
 
Honor Deferred is also archived at the WWII National Museum exhibition in New Orleans as well. He is the first living African American Male to have a statue unveiled in honor of his life’s work, highlighting his unique cultural and humanitarian impact.
