On February 03, 2026, at approximately 11:40am, the Rome Police Department responded to the 400 block of West Court Street in regards to a motor vehicle/pedestrian collision. A female was struck by a dark colored Ford SUV which was traveling in an easterly direction on West Court Street. The suspect vehicle fled the scene towards North Madison Street. The female was transported to an area hospital by AmCare Ambulance and subsequently flown by Mercy Flight to an area trauma center for evaluation and treatment. The female is currently in critical/stable condition.

The victim of the vehicle-pedestrian collision which occurred on February 03, 2026, has been identified as 39-year-old, Zulay Longo, of Rome. On yesterday’s date, Longo succumbed to her injuries while at SUNY Upstate Hospital and was pronounced deceased. The investigation into the collision is ongoing at this time. The Rome Police Department is looking for the public’s assistance in this investigation.
