MVCC’s Civic Responsibilities Office presents annual Men of Color Symposium

Mohawk Valley Community College’s Office of Civic Responsibilities is sponsoring the seventh annual Men of Color Symposium from noon to 3 p.m. Friday, April 21, in Alumni College Center room 116 on MVCC’s Utica Campus.

The event includes lunch, live music by the Greater Highway Deliverance Temple of Utica choir, and a presentation titled “Keeping the Faith in Life’s Hardships” by Bishop Liston Page Jr. The Symposium is free and open to the public, and is a DGV event for MVCC students. RSVPs are required; seating is limited.

Page’s presentation will touch on several issues of importance to men of color, especially African-American and Latino men, including how to stay focused during relationship problems, what happens after life doesn’t go as planned, respecting each other’s differences, not giving up when life gets hard, and making education a priority amid so many distractions.

Page is the senior pastor of The Highway Church in Paterson, N.J. and is an international evangelist, noted conference speaker, author, and frequent guest on the Trinity Broadcasting Network and the WORD Network. Page, Jr. earned his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, his master of divinity degree from Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University, and is pursuing a doctorate of ministry degree at Drew University.

To RSVP or for more information, call Patrick Johnson, campus-community civility liaison at MVCC, at 315.601.6002 or visit www.mvcc.edu/forms/men-of-color.
