City of Utica Great American Cleanup!

April 22, 2017 – Rain Date – Saturday, April 29, 2017, as the primary dates.  We will work with groups for cleanups at other times as well if they are not available on these dates.

This year the HomeOwnership Center will be staffing the Empowerment Center at 230 James St. in Utica, from 8:30 am – 11:00 am as a staging area for supplies, water etc.

We generally have about 400 – 500 volunteers that day.  Various groups will be out on the street sprucing up the City starting on Friday, April 21 – and into May.

On Friday, April 21st (rain date 4-28-17)

  • The Elfun Society will be in Bagg Square Memorial Park   9:00 – 11:00
  • Youth Build will be on Main Street in Bagg Square              9:00 – 12:30

On Saturday, April 22nd (rain date 4-29-17)

  • A new not-for-profit Utica Greens will be working in 5 community gardens. They will meet at the MLK Park at 12:30 pm following the Blended Feast seed bombing.
  • The Cornhill Neighborhood Association in cooperation with the Mohawk Valley Latino Association and other volunteers will be cleaning the area at and around Kemble Park on James St. starting at 9:00 am
  • Volunteers from Cornhill Cares will be cleaning along James St. Starting at 9:00 am
  • The MVCC Criminal Justice Club will be cleaning the Brewery District starting at 9:00 am.
  • Boy Scouts troop 14 of New Hartford will be cleaning Addison Miller Park Starting at 9:00 am
  • BOCES students will be working in Proctor Park 10:00 am

We are still looking for volunteers to work in the South Utica area around Price Chopper and in North Utica around the Wurz & Leland Ave area.
