MVCC to host Taka-Con in Utica

Mohawk Valley Community College will host Taka-Con from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Alumni College Center at the College’s Utica Campus, 1101 Sherman Drive. Admission is free.

Taka-Con is a convention for fans of anime, comics, gaming, and other nerdery. The event will include panel discussions, a cosplay contest, a Super Smash Bros. tournament, anime trivia game, board game room, and role-play games run by local gamemasters. There also will be a number of local vendors and artists selling their wares.

Two guests have been confirmed; Amy Baker, the Syracuse-based author of “Tainted Moonlight,” a series of sci-fi/horror books set in Upstate New York under the pen name of Erin Kelly; and Derek Nekritz, MVCC tutor and “Dungeons and Dragons” content creator who recently co-authored the new campaign setting “Morgrave Miscellany.”
